Safer Internet Day 2012

Safer Internet Day 2012

This year, Safer Internet Day will take place on Tuesday 7th February 2012 and will be centred on the theme Connecting generations and educating each other, with the slogan: "Discover the digital world together... safely!" During the week we will be exploring how children can work and play alongside their families in order to stay safe on the Internet. Parents may wish to download the Parent and Child home internet use contract to support their children in learning the Safer Internet Day message.

There are also some excellent (and funny) videos on the CBBC website where the 'Horrible Histories' team give some great Internet Safety tips. Children can also put their safety knowledge to the test in a Tracey Beaker open ended story.

Parent Workshops - Autumn 2011

Thank you to those parents who attended the recent workshops we have led here in school. Over the last half term we have offered advice and support on Reading (Yrs 3 & 4), Maths (Yr 3) and Friendships amongst girls (Yrs 4 & 5). The sessions have been well attended and very positive feedback was received from each of workshops which is very useful in planning further events. We recognise that as two of the sessions were held in the afternoon, some parents were unable to attend, however we have offered evening sessions previously where other parents have had childcare issues. We try to offer a balance when planning information workshops for parents and will look to alternating daytime/ evening in order to meet the needs of as many as possible.

Building Fund

We would like to say a big 'THANK YOU' to those families who have made a donation to this years' school Building Fund. We are very grateful for your contribution!

It is not too late to make your donation if you have not yet managed to do so; a donation of £15 per pupil is outlined by the Diocese of Shrewsbury to meet the costs of the upkeep of the school building.

PSA 2011-12

What a busy term it has been for our PSA! – We would like to offer a huge thank you to our new PSA team, led by Mrs Kelly and Mrs Rezzano for their hard work and dedication. The long list of events they have helped to arrange include the Cake Sale, Christmas Cards, Wrapping paper, 2012 calendars, Body Shop Party, Christmas Fair, Bedtime Stories and the Christmas Disco. Each of these initiatives has not only provided the school with much needed additional funds but have also provided wonderful bonding opportunities for our families. The money we have raised from the above events will go towards the cost of additional safety surfacing around the trim trail and further play equipment. We look forward to another exciting year of events!

Winter Weather School Closures
  • In the event of any school closure due to bad weather conditions we will inform parents using the school text alert system; it is vital, therefore that you keep us informed of any changes to your mobile phone contact numbers. We will also give regular updates here on the school website.
  • Please note that any decision to close the school will be made in consultation with the headteachers and Chairs of Governors of both the Infant and Junior schools when all factors and guidelines will be considered.
  • If at any point this winter, you are unable to safely travel to school with your children, wait until weather conditions improve and bring them into school later in the school day.

Medical Conditions NEW UPDATE
  • Following recent training and up to the minute advice we would like to advise that from now on parents must inform school should their child visit A&E, even if this does not include an overnight admission.
  • We also request that school is informed of any change in medical condition i.e. if your child is diagnosed with a condition/ allergy or need. We trust that you will support us in this measure which seeks to further ensure the health and safety needs of your children whilst they are in our care.
  • Current emergency contact telephone numbers must be updated to ensure our records are accurate.
